Welcome to the rush hour, your daily dose of pop culture for your rush hour ride, buckle up and enjoy the drive with your host standup comedian, Dave Neal. Good morning to all of my rushes out there. It's October 3rd, 2024 Thursday morning, and we've got all your entertainment and pop culture news in one place.

Coming up on this episode, we've got a golden bachelorette week three recap and chapel Roan discusses her mental health. struggles while performing in Nashville. Oh, and I've got Diddy updates. Everybody is talking. Names are being named and it's getting messy. And also messy is a beef between several Saturday night live stars.

Plus an update on the port workers strike and also a dancing with the stars rumor takes over the ballroom floor. I'm YouTube plans a major revamp of their TV app. After overtaking Netflix and we've got Anthony Scaramucci giving an unbiased take of the VP debate and one of the doctors involved with the Matthew Perry death pleads guilty.

All these stories and more coming up next on the rush. All right, let's start with the Matthew Perry story. One of the doctors charged in connection with Matthew Perry's ketamine death is one step closer to prison because he just copped to a crime. Dr. Mark Chavez, one of two physicians busted in the Perry case, appeared before a judge in federal court Wednesday in L.

A. and pled guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine. Now here's what his lawyer had to say. The factual basis from the plea agreement will be used as the basis for the medical board to issue a complaint against him, requesting the surrender of his license. We will agree with that conclusion, and at that point, his license will be revoked.

I cannot give you an exact timeline about when that will happen, because it is up to the medical board, but the wheels are in motion, and now that the guilty plea has been entered, it should happen sooner than later. Hey, a plea deal is never really good. I mean, it's kind of one of those like win win for both sides, right?

He doesn't have to go to trial and face worse charges, but he has to admit to something. And, you know, you see this happen a lot. So all right, I'll take it. Not that anyone asked me in other news. Let's get to this. Let's get to Chapel Row. And she canceled several concert dates last weekend and it left everyone complaining about her.

Oh, these Gen Z just want to take days off for their work life balance. Pull yourself up by your fishnet bootstraps or whatever, whatever the hell she's wearing on stage. Either way. She talked about mental health at her Nashville show after canceling those gigs. Here's what she had to say. I just said to myself that this is why I do it.

It's like I can see you and feel you. And like, that's what is important. I just,

I needed this so bad when I was 15. I felt so completely misunderstood and very alone. And I really, really needed a place where people weren't gonna make fun of me for how I dressed. Or who I liked. Or anything.

I hope you know that you are wanted here. And you're welcome here. However you are, wherever you are in your life, you are working on it. Alright, so she goes on and on and look, we're happy for her, but she doesn't really, you know, dive into the X's and O's of what went down. Uh, if I was her though, or friends with her, I would say, let's get you off your phone.

You are loved by millions. Let's get you off your phone. Let's just get you working on spreading that love. Alright, well. Here's the drama from the dancing with the stars. Harry Jowsey, uh, was on, what was it? One of those Netflix shows too hot to handle whatever. And he was with Riley Arnold, uh, like last year.

Right. And everyone was like shipping them and whatever these kids say these days, they wanted them to date. But of course he's like a bad boy and she's like a pure, you know, Utah, you know, very, very, I don't know, innocent vibe. So here's the full story. Rumor is that some sort of altercation went down when Harry Jowsey tried to approach his ex dance partner Riley Arnold at the Dancing with the Stars live taping last night.

If you were following Dancing with the Stars closely last year or honestly just on social media at all, you know that a lot of drama went down between you. Harry Jowsey and his Dancing with the Stars partner, Riley Arnold. Long story short, everyone wanted Harry and Riley to be boyfriend and girlfriend, everyone was shipping them together, everyone wanted them to date, and they did lean into that.

They did kind of never confirm the speculation, never let anyone know if they were just dating. friends or if they were dating. I personally found it a little creepy because Riley had just turned 18 and Harry was 26 at the time. But anyway, there ends up being this massive falling out online because Harry admitted that he had a girlfriend while they were filming and said that he would never date Riley.

So then last night we see that Harry Jowsey is at the taping of the Dancing with the Stars live show and apparently he tried to approach his ex partner Riley Arnold to say hi, who knows, and Ezra, one of Riley's best friends who is also a pro, stepped in and said you are not talking to her. All right.

That's kind of a long way to go to just say these dancers have each other's backs. I mean, it's like, it's like, uh, it's like a union out there between these dancers. They got to protect their own, you know, cause a lot of them have been dancing with each other since they're like younger days, right?

They've been doing this for a long time. So, hey, good to see there's some solidarity there between the dancers. All right. Here's your update. about YouTube. And this, you know, peaks my interest as a YouTuber. And look, YouTube's what an app, right? It's the only video platform. I mean, no one's watching videos on Vimeo, right?

Or rumbles, no offense or Twitter. You know, you watch them on YouTube. Those were the, that's where the videos are. Right. And, uh, well now YouTube plans a major revamp of their TV app after overtaking Netflix. That's right. On TVs, YouTube is watched now more than Netflix. This is good for people that want to get into content creation.

This just goes to show the power of, of creating and being, having the ball in your own court. We're a talented content creator. I really just hope that you continue on because there's a lot of good things that are going to happen for you. Listen up at YouTube's maid event. They announced that they are going to be making some big changes to the TV app I know for myself last year It's been the most that I have ever watched YouTube in my living room actually sitting down Watching it like a TV show and what they announced is that they're going to be changing their YouTube app to actually allow creators to format their content as if it is Shows like a streaming service like how Netflix has seasons prime has seasons now Why do I think this is really interesting for creators?

Because if the YouTube TV app becomes synonymous with any of the other The difference between those and YouTube is anybody can go and upload on YouTube. It removes gatekeepers. There's nobody that is stopping you from posting your content onto YouTube. This continues to become the platform that everybody is watching in their household.

The only thing that people are competing on is the actual value of the content and who can get people to want to watch what they're putting out, which makes the entire industry be based around merit rather than signing a deal with a big studio. And that's why it's going to be something that is really interesting to watch.

Yeah. Well put. I mean, look, there's never been a better time to be alive as a content creator. I mean, I've got a, I've got a series that I want to create, and, you know, I could say, well, I want to sell it to Netflix, but hey, if you know, worst, worst case scenario, you just put it on YouTube. YouTube's got this audience that can find it because I feel like the, the barrier to entry for YouTube is low.

Every single phone You buy in the U. S., comes preloaded with YouTube, and while you can pay for the premium version, you can also get it for free. So, you know, a lot of comedians, if they can't sell their special to Hulu or HBO or Netflix, they'll just post it on YouTube. You know, they'll make some money, but they're all, they're also going to expose their content to a greater number of fans, which will help more people find you and come to shows.

And, you know, so I think this is a very, uh, big deal. And. Gosh. I mean, look, I'm, I'm looking to, you know, continue to create on the app. And, you know, I think no, but nobody, I say this, nobody does a better job than YouTube to make their content creators feel happy and supported. And that's because there's a revenue share program, you know, for every dollar that comes in, YouTube gets half in the creator gets half, which is a big deal because you can, you know, just create content, content, and you don't have to pay for, you know, uh, hosting or browse, you know, all that stuff.

You just. You get to use their, their, so their service, uh, you know, their servers and you get to, and then, you know, they, YouTube's also got the most robust algorithm as far as, you know. If you make good content, people will find it. So I'm all on board. Uh, never gonna, never gonna turn my back on you, YouTube.

Alright, I got all the updates on the strike that. could be disrupting our day to day life. And, um, it's a good thing that it's happening. It's good that workers are sticking up for themselves and there are 25, 000 of them and they are ready to walk off the job site if, if, if they haven't already. I'll have that story for you right after a quick word from our sponsor.

All right, not to confuse anybody, I've already mentioned that the port strike has happened. The first clip I'm about to share with you is from a few days ago. This is 25, 000 dock workers having walked off the job. And then I'm going to share some words directly from what, from them and what they're saying about why this is important.

Strike that could disrupt, some say even cripple nearly every 25, 000 dock workers and 14 ports from Texas all the way to Massachusetts could walk off the job. Tonight, negotiations between their union and the shipping industry have been stalled since back in June. A strike could affect nearly half of America's ports, leading to shortages of everyday items like pharmaceuticals, produce.

Fresh meat, cars, you name it, driving up prices across the board. JP Morgan Chase says that a dock strike could cost the American economy about 5 billion every day. Well, then there's, you know, a strike of this calamity should really pressure the powers to, uh, to be, to make the right decision. Harold Daggett, president of the International Longshoremen's Association leads the strike at the port of New York and New Jersey.

The union of dockworkers is demanding better wages and protection against automation technology. Uh, this is going to be so interesting for other people. For other transportation workers and anyone who may be losing their job to automation. Those greedy companies are making billions of dollars and they don't want to share.

That's why we're out here now fighting for a contract. We're going to fight for it now. And we're going to win it or this portal will never open up again from here to Houston. I'm not playing games here. I understand what you guys do and they don't want the economy to shut down, but they don't fully understand the job of the men and women who work.

That's the problem. Nobody knew what the longshoremen were. We didn't get respected, but now we will. Now we will. When they find out malls are going to shut down because goods can't come in, our salesmen are going to get laid off. Well, guess what? Everything that comes in this country comes from the containers off these ships that my men work.

And I want the world to know it. They learned don't come after us saying we're greedy. Go after those greedy that all these companies in Europe go after them. They're sitting over there taking 4 billion bonuses for themselves. at Christmas time. Wow. How about that? I mean, listen, I can understand if people aren't educated on what's going on, but these longshoremen, I mean, they're, they're not, they're not millionaires.

Yeah, sure. They have, they have good jobs, but they're going to get replaced to automation if they don't stand in solidarity and they literally control every item we import into this country. So all they have to do is stay united. And let me tell you something, they are going to get one friendly deal.

I'll be here to cover it. Uh, the ball is in their court and they really have all the chips. They really do, uh, to combine multiple metaphors into one. All right. We got a lot to get into a Diddy. Let's do a palate cleanser before we get into Diddy and just quickly talk about the golden bachelorette. Last night was week three.

I got to tell you something based on the amount of views I'm getting on my golden bachelorette content I'm making on YouTube. I don't think that many people are watching. Uh, And I, that makes me feel bad. I think it's totally worth watching. I think it's great that it doesn't have any toxic drama, fabricated storylines, or anything that's like low hanging fruit.

It's just a good story about people that have lost their partners, whether it be through divorce or death. Uh, they've got stories of learning to overcome, uh, adversity and learning to love again. And. They all come from different walks of life. I don't know. It's a, it's a fantastic show, but after watching last night's episode, they had a kickball tournament and of course it was sponsored by oatmeal.

It's like, Oh my gosh. You know, Quaker oats. Look, I get it. They got to pay their bills, but I was like, Oh, my Lanta. Why don't they have like Tylenol sponsored? I mean, these guys are popping hip muscles. They're pulling groins. I really hope that they paid overtime to the, uh, set medic who was there giving them, uh, you know, heating pads and whatever.

Uh, but either way they, it looks like they all made it out well, I shouldn't say unscathed, but scathed enough, but still, you know, no, no one was sent to the hospital as far as I could tell for that, at least, uh, but we're very, um, We're very excited to root for everyone. The captain, uh, of course, uh, did not make it past last night.

Listen, I'll have my full recap, all the X's and O's. It's really more of a visual thing to show everyone the photos of what went down, but I'll have that on today's YouTube. Uh, but we did have Gary show up and you know, Gary single now, Gary Turner for his golden bachelor. What's really crazy is now we know Joan Vasso's of course she came from Gary season.

And these men will then possibly, one of them might become the next Golden Bachelor. But what was great is it all stems from old Golden Gary, the first Indiana Golden Bachelor. And he comes back, and I was kind of hoping he might have tried to shoot his shot again, but, uh, Gary's really good at putting himself in the friend zone.

He's done that with plenty of his exes, and maybe this is just something that the older generation is better at. You know, because maybe there's, and again, this is just a hypothesis, but maybe there's less of a worry about sex. So it's more like, who do I want to hang out with? And if you're not worried about sex or being platonic or being, you know, monogamous, I should say, then it's like, all right, well, I'll hang out with all of you.

And Gary, uh, I mean, at least showed that, uh, when, when, when it's, uh, when everyone's on the same page, why not? So Gary's friends with his ex Joan, she of course walked off the show and you can tell on this season. She's. Sort of been a little flighty, kind of realizing how heavy it is that, um, she might not be over her late husband.

And I think that's okay. You know, she sat all the men down and said, look, I don't know if I can give you a hundred percent. Um, you know, my heart might still be with my late husband. And it's like, look, you know, he didn't die this year. It's been several years. And I think that's fair to say. And I think that's a fair thing to know.

It's like, you're not trying to replace somebody that person passed. You're trying to be you. And if it works out together. And you've got a friend for the end of the world. And I think that's what it comes down to. And I think that's why the show is, is, um, you know, at least performing well with those that are watching it, because they get to see it as something we're all rooting for, which is finding happiness throughout time.

But I must say, you know, I was watching Gary Turner and I kind of felt bad, but Because, you know, Gary had to deal with the hit piece on The Hollywood Reporter, he had to deal with all this BS, and it's like, when Gary was announced, everybody loved Gary, they built him up, and then they wanted to tear him down.

And we saw the same thing happen with Michael A., where everyone built up Michael A. from Katie's season, you know, a guy who lost his wife, and, you know, tragically, and they Then everyone wanted to tear them down. And it's just, it's just kind of tiring to see that we find these people and we always say, Oh, protect so and so at all costs.

But what happens? They get too famous. And then what do we do? Tear them down. I don't want to be a part of that, but you know who I am okay tearing down is people like Diddy who seem to have a lot of skeletons in the closet. I've got a clip here from the Piers Morgan uncensored show. This is a clip where, um, I guess, Uh, there's a discussion of people that have been blowing this whistle for way too long.

How many victims, potentially, do you think there could be? Thousands. Thousands. I've talked to hundreds that I deal with steel myself. I have three victims right now who are willing to give testimony about not only what Mr. Carter has done to them, but his wife as well. Okay, I guess this is where it's getting interesting.

Now we're talking about Jay Z and Beyonce. I am not a hundred percent sure how they're comparing them, them to Diddy. Uh, maybe it's that they were all at the same parties. Continue. They're a nasty little couple. They do nasty things. What'd you think happened with Kim? Keeping people against their will.

Putting people on planes while they're unconscious. Just like Aaliyah got on that plane. Whoa. Unconscious. There's a lot of things that people don't want to talk about, Pierce. Listen, like I said, Jay Z and Beyonce are not here, uh, unfortunately, to respond to that. I know. Um, I'm just being honest with you.

You're perfectly entitled to your, to your views, obviously. Uh, Kim Porter. Yes. A new book claims that Diddy may have been involved in her early death. What do you think of that? Uh, I think people should really look into that more. I am friends with Al B. Shore. I love him. I love his children. I, I knew Kim.

We used to all hang out together at the Kit Kat club back in the mid 90s, when Diddy was first starting his reign. So it goes on and on. So they're making wild claims. And guys, this isn't just some online rumors. This is on like proper, you know, cable. I don't know. I don't know if this appears Morgan. He counts his cable.

Right. But this is still. Unbelievable. And it's like, look, did he still has powerful lawyers? He's still a hundred millionaire. And same thing with Jay Z and these people that are speaking out, they have not been sent cease and desist. They have not been sued for defamation. So it really makes you wonder like, wow, are they lying?

Or is there more to this story that we don't know about? yet. Investigative reporter and co author of Kim Porter's memoir, Chris Todd alleges there are Diddy tapes with Jay Z, Will Smith, and Jamie Foxx. And I'll have that all for you right after a quick word from our sponsor. Wild stuff. We continue with the Diddy story.

Here's the investigative reporter talking about the possible tapes that exist. There are allegations of Diddy's involvement in alleged sexual activities with celebrities, including Jay Z, Will Smith, and others. What evidence or testimony supports these explosive claims? Again, I'm only going to go off of what Kim says, and that's all I can go off of for that.

If you were to ask me to research and investigate that these guys were bisexual, there's a lot of evidence that they are. Not just from Kim. And you're gonna see it come out. So, so what I, what I want, what I want to be clear about is, is the question. Once again. There are allegations of Diddy's involvement in alleged sexual activity in the book with celebrities including Jay Z, Will Smith, and others.

What evidence or testimony supports these explosive claims? So basically you're telling me that you per se don't have any tapes, videos of anything involving Jay Z? There's tapes of them, yeah. No, you have tapes. You are in possession of Well, I'm not going to comment about what the word possession means, but there are tapes of them, yeah.

No, I'm saying you've seen those tapes? No comment. Whoa. Because that, that's a You're talking about a criminal investigation. No, no. And I understand, I understand what you're saying. But I'm saying, what evidence or testimony supports the explosive claims? Kim saying it. So we start with her. Okay. So if Kim says When she calls him the two Sean's and I really wasn't big on that whole thing.

Anyway, it's very brief when it's talked about that talking about Jamie Also, I know what you're talking about when she mentions that the first source is Kim herself Through research through investigators P eyes all the people with me. Yes, we believe that That it is true. Okay, if you're asking for like a tape and this no, there's no tape of Diddy with them that i'm going to comment on So he says no, you know comment there now So i'm googling kim porter because she of course passed away and amazon has pulled a memoir Attributed to late model Kim Porter that detailed the alleged abuse at the hands of her ex boyfriend.

This is what's crazy. Now Amazon's pulling the memoir that they're talking about releasing. The e commerce giant on Tuesday removed Kim's Lost Words A Journey for Justice from the other side from its website. The removal comes on the heels of Kim Porter's children denouncing the word in casting doubt on its authenticity.

They said, we were made aware of a dispute regarding this title and I've notified the publisher. So this is crazy stuff. I mean, look, this is absolutely crazy stuff. We'll continue to report on it as information comes out. I'm a little, uh, short on time, so I'm going to have to say. Save my SNL story for tomorrow.

I didn't get a chance. We're just short folks, or excuse me, not for tomorrow for this afternoon. So, uh, whatever stories we don't get to in the morning, we get to more in the afternoon. A lot breaks in that time. So stick around for that, but let's go to a quick political thought from Anthony Scaramucci, who again, worked in the Trump administration, but I think does a very good job as a traditional Republican and being fair when it comes to, uh, who wins the debates and what's going on, I think he's a very, uh, Uh, is a very unbiased, uh, voice, uh, in, in the media space.

So here's what he had to say about the debate between Waltz and JD Vance. Wanted Waltz to win, but he did not win that debate. And so we have to be very objective as to why he didn't win that debate. He got very nervous. He looked lost. Whoever prepped him either didn't know how to prep him or he didn't prepare for the debate because you have to be ready for the Tiananmen Square question.

He spent 90 seconds in dead air and you could feel screeching in the room, but he got better. He got better in the middle of the debate. He got better with gun control. He got better with healthcare. He got better with women's reproductive rights. Did something that Donald Trump is not going to like, and that is, yeah, well, you're saying that.

And I agree with you, but that's not what your top of the ticket candidate is saying. That's not what he's saying. And he split Vance three or four times. And I'm going to tell you that Vance did well enough for Trump to pretend that he liked it, but he really is not going to like it. Both of those guys did way better than Donald Trump did on September the 10th.

Yeah, it's very interesting. You know, I mean, I thought it's, I think the bar set so much lower for J. D. Vance in the aspect that they're saying J. D. Vance won the debate because he didn't come off like a creep, you know what I mean? Oh, he came off like a normal politician. Yeah, but he also said a lot of things that just weren't true.

Uh, will this change anything? I don't think so. I don't think it'll change one dang thing in this race. But, um, yeah, I mean, they both had their moments. There was no slam dunk moment. There was no one side crushing the other. Both sides will claim that they won. But, you know, was it useless? Well, I think it was a glimpse into a way of debate.

could be held if there isn't crazy rhetoric and smashing of each other and this and that. But Hey, maybe, maybe some other election now will JD Vance be the heir apparent for the Republican party? I don't believe so. Um, I do not believe so, but Hey, who knows what do I know? Not much. All right, folks. Well, I'll have my.
