Welcome to the Rush Hour. Your daily dose of pop culture for your Rush Hour ride. Buckle up and enjoy the drive with your host, stand up comedian, Dave Neal. Good afternoon, everybody. It's Dave here on the set. Afternoon rush here, October 14th, 2024. It is Columbus day. Some people call it indigenous people day, about 30 states have it as a national holiday.
I guess that doesn't mean get a national holiday, whatever the hell it is, either you're working or you're not, but I'm here regardless to give you all of the pop culture and information you need to get you on your ride home. And on today's afternoon rush, we've got gypsy Rose giving advice to the Menendez brothers.
Plus Olivia Rodrigo falls into a sinkhole on Sunday. stage and we have Jason Kelsey's cameraman falling into a sinkhole on an RV. Uh, Scooter Braun asked Swifties to move on and another man busted in a possible assassination attempt, a bachelor nation throwback to the glory days of Corinne Olympios. And we've also got some country music beef as the polarization of politics rips apart the country scene.
I've got all these stories and more coming up next on The Rash. Well, let's first start off with some crazy news. There was a third assassination attempt on Donald Trump, although I don't think this one got to the point where any bullets were flying. Let's just go to Fox five, Washington DC. They're on the scene.
Now to a developing story out of California, a man with multiple guns was arrested outside of former president Donald Trump's rally in California. Yes. Saturday, the local sheriff says 49 year old Van Miller illegally had a shotgun loaded handgun and a high capacity magazine. They say the arrest did not impact the safety of the former president or event attendees.
This is a developing story. So of course, we'll bring you the latest updates right here on air and online Pretty wild stuff. I mean, I don't have any comments to make other than violence is never okay. And on a scale of zero to 10, as far as how concerned I am for what goes down in the next month, I'm at about an eight to be quite fair.
Not because I think anything's going to change in my personal life, but, uh, you know, it's almost like, have you ever been, have you ever been in a family argument where you can't talk your family down, you know, you're at the dinner table on Thanksgiving. People start yelling and escalating. And you're like, oh boy, this is going in the wrong direction.
That's how I feel to an extent, uh, of politics right now, which is that I feel like no matter what happens in the election, it will not resolve the deep seated issues we have as a country. And by extension, a family, uh, with regards to the people that think there's misinformation or people that don't believe what the government saying or whatnot, it's fascinating to say the least I'll be here to give you guys my honest thoughts and to try to.
to keep this family from a full out meltdown, uh, because you guys know our, our audience, we, we are in lockstep, sharing, love, sharing joy, and, uh, trying to share the truth, critical thinking wise and all of that. Uh, I can't speak for others. All right. Olivia Rodrigo takes a dramatic fall into a hole on set.
stage. We just watched the video on Patreon, patreon. com slash Dave Neal. Yeah. Somebody didn't batten down the latches. I guess it looked, I mean, it looked like she was doing like a Pratt fall, like a kind of walking down the stairs, but she just fell into some giant hole. I'll share the audio with you.
It's not pretty. Here it is. She's walking. She's getting everyone to cheer. Now listen to this. Here it comes.
I was, you can't see it. And I'm laughing cause she's okay. Uh, but you just have this moment where everyone goes, ah, And then she emerges. And this is a good example for all of us out there. She emerges from the sinkhole. Here's what she said.
There it is folks. Sometimes there's just a hole in the stage. Uh, wiser words have never been spoken. So if you're out there falling into a metaphorical stage and at your workplace, just know you're not alone. And Olivia Rodrigo isn't alone either. We've got Jason Kelsey. That's right. His camera guy falls through a hole in the roof of an RV.
That's right. The former Philadelphia Eagle center. And of course, co host of the new heights podcast was filming a segment for, for a Sunday morning football game, Eagles versus Browns on the roof of an RV. The camera guy falls through the roof and drops his hundred thousand dollar camera. I'm guessing it's insured here and it looks like everyone's okay.
But you know, who's not okay is the people that have to ride a frontier airlines, not that there's anything wrong with the airline, but the passenger had a presidential meltdown claims she owns seven continents. Now, maybe she's got connections that I don't, but if you own any amount of property whatsoever, you're probably not flying frontier airlines.
My guess is if you're not flying private, you're flying Delta sitting in Delta blue or extended leg room, but probably look, if you own, I mean, by the way, seven continents. is pretty much the whole world as far as I'm concerned. So my guess is she was telling a fib. She had a freak out and it was caught on camera during the lead up to a flight from San Diego to Las Vegas.
It was shared on a Tik TOK Sunday because that's what we do folks. We share things on Tik TOK. Uh, she was yelling at the crew saying, if I was white in a suit, you would be the, you would stop the effing plane. The presidential outburst was so absurd that a few passengers couldn't help but crack up. Cue her going absolutely unhinged on them, barking, Laugh now, I am the president of the whole gosh darn country.
Watch, see the effing TV news. All right, so I don't think she is the president of the country. Look, there's something that happens when you fly. I don't know if it's the cabin pressure or maybe the beers they serve in the airport lounge. I don't really know what it is, but it's kind of sad, you know. And, and it's also just You know, flying, you know, here we have Olivia Rodrigo falling through the stage, but flying is kind of like triggers the same sort of, uh, issues, right?
It's that caged rat mentality. Normal people get put in situations where they're on each other's butts. One person sneezes, it's the butterfly effect. Next thing you know, the flight's going down because some lady claims she owns the world in the, uh, you know, 24A. So either way, uh, uh, you know, just a reminder out there, whether at Thanksgiving dinner or sitting in the back of a frontier airlines flight, take a deep breath.
It's going to be okay. Well, congratulations to Olympian Noah Lyles. He has Sprinted his way to the, uh, well, I was going to say to the altar, but he's not married yet. Just engage proposed to a Jamaican sprinter. He's of course, one of the fastest men in the world. He got down on one knee on Saturday and shared the proposal with his 1.
5 million Instagram followers. Uh, the lovely couple had on their best fits as they walked through a fancy house. When, uh, she noticed the rose petals, candles, and a massive floral sign that said, will you marry me? He recently won gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the a hundred meter dash presented a ring and she was clearly thrilled showing off the diamond.
A few seconds later, uh, her name's Junelle Brumfield. And I gotta tell you, I mean, statistically speaking, two of the fastest people in the world procreating, they're probably going to have a fast baby. That or a fast delivery. I don't know how it works. Uh, will there be starting blocks in the womb? Who, who knows?
Right. But, uh, all joking aside, uh, very happy for him. And we'll have to see now that he's getting married. Will he still be fast? Because I got to tell you something since I got married, I, I mean, not that I was fast beforehand, but I certainly have lost a step. There is something that happens when you get married to the belly.
Of the male, uh, the, the females seem to be perfectly fine, but there's something in the male belly that is, uh, sort of triggered when, uh, when you get married, that forces you to really slow down and enjoy, uh, an extra appetizer or two ladies like a good appetizer. What can you say? All right. Gypsy Rose, uh, spoke out about the Menendez brothers.
She gave some advice to them, of course, because they. Uh, were found guilty, I guess, of killing their parents, and I think she of the same. So, what a unique bond they have. Uh, TMZ caught up with her. Here's what she had to say. Can you say? I don't think we're at liberty to say yet. Okay. You know something? I can read between the lines on that.
Yet. Biggest, one of the biggest stories in the world right now. The Menendez Brothers. Have you been following that at all, or? Um, not a whole lot. I'm not very, uh, educated in their case or anything. So, they essentially, they went to prison for Uh, murdering their parents. And nobody denies that they did it, but it's coming out, and it's pretty credible.
A lot of people feel that they were abused by their parents. So now, the DA is reviewing their case, and they're possibly gonna get, uh, released. And I kinda wanted your, uh, Okay, well, I mean, I really can't, really can't speak on the specifics of that case. I'm not really educated in that case. But, um, I will say that I'm an advocate for abuse victims in general.
Um, and I'm all about prison reform, so. You support their release, you think? I don't think either of us are educated enough on the subject. All right, so the guy interrupts and says, uh, we said we're not educated in the subject. Now, now, to be quite honest, I'm a little surprised if I was gypsy and was in jail, uh, for killing my parents, I would think I would know about similar circumstance.
Or maybe you could argue, she goes, well, I, you know, I don't want to know about others because of the triggering aspects. Who knows? I don't know much about her case. I actually don't know much about the Menendez case, but of course, uh, I do think, I do, I do think that if there is abuse going on and if it's provable that you can look at that from a different lens as just a cold blooded killer, right?
Well, look, I got a lot of content to get to, so let's just take a quick break. Let's reset. We'll be back with more right after this. One thing I've learned now that I've got a five month old baby, it's that I value my sleep. I get it when I can. Here's a throwback to Bachelor Villain and one of my favorite contestants of all time, Corinne Olympios, describing the importance of napping while on the show.
And they got mad at me for napping. Like, they were pushing me so hard to apologize to the group for napping. And I'm like, do you guys realize how dumb that is? And they were like, no, you have to do it. And I was like, no, I don't, I don't want to do it. The producer was like, okay, when I put my hands up like this.
You have to initiate the conversation. So I was like, Oh my God. So I'm like sitting there and like, sure enough, the producer behind the camera puts his hands up. I was like, guys, so I need to apologize. Is that really how it went down? Yeah. You should have pulled a Conor McGregor. Oh my God. I'd like to apologize.
To absolutely. Yeah, I would, I would love to see Corinne Olympios come back. She's a once in a generation character. And I have to say this, having had her on driving with Dave, her stock grew so much in my eyes, not because she's a perfect person, but she's just authentic. She tells you how it is. She gives you her honest take on things.
And I just. I don't know, there's just something about her that's so dang likable. You know what it might be, and if you listened to my episode with her, which was probably about a year ago, right? Actually over a year, it was before we had the Teslas driving around in the Prius. Um, but uh, what was so endearing about her is she uses a lot of humor and puts on a brave face, but I think she exists in a world where she hasn't been given, um, You know, she's, you know, raised with affluence.
She's rich, uh, comes from a rich family. And I think because of that, your, your, your, um, your own pain and issues are sort of overlooked because you do come from a place of privilege. And throughout my conversation with her, I learned so much about The struggles she had to deal with, with parents that were sick and dealing with family issues and kind of, you know, so, you know, maybe some absenteeism.
So you see that and you just, you just learn to love somebody for all of the things you didn't even know. And, um, I think we could use more of that in society, which is just taking a chance to, um, I don't know, judge people, uh, uniquely. As kind people and not based on where they come from. I don't know.
Does that make any sense? Just a thought while Scooter Braun was being interviewed. And of course he was the one who bought Taylor Swift's record label and be created this big war. She really saw her for music. He probably lost hundreds of millions of dollars. Well, now he weighs in on his, on his long term, uh, his long term feud with singer Taylor Swift.
Now it's not really a feud with her so much as it is her audience. Here's what he had to say.
There was a lot of things that were misrepresented. I think that it's important in any kind of conflict that people actually communicate directly with each other. I think doing it out on social media and in front of the whole world is, is not the place. And I think when people actually take the time to stand in front of each other and have a conversation.
Usually find out the monster is not real and that hasn't happened and that has not happened So he says the conversation with him and Taylor never happened The monster is not real which again if you're a monster and say the monster is not real That's kind of hard to do but you know A lot of people that watched the documentary that kind of breaks down what actually happened are sympathetic towards his side I'll just say this.
I mean, he's a dude who's I'm not gonna say exploited But as a manager, he launched Bieber's career and he's made a ton of money so it's It's like, all right, if you get caught up in some pop star cross hairs, just do whatever. You know what I mean? Whatever, man, maybe it's not 100 percent your fault. Um, and maybe, you know, the, basically it came down to the fact that, uh, Taylor's side insists she didn't know that her masters were being sold.
Masters being like the copies The, the, the produced copies of her music that she created. She didn't know it was being sold. Um, his site says, no, come on. She was well aware. This is what was going down. So she's no victim here. Either way, Kelly Clarkson tweeted, Hey, you should just rerecord your music. To which she did.
That's why she's got all the Taylor's version. And because of all of that, it is, I mean, she was a famous pop star, but she's probably grown five times the size since. Since then, uh, she's like the Grinch. Her pop culture grew five times its size. Uh, but no, she's not the Grinch, uh, in as far as temperament goes.
I love Taylor Swift. You know, you can already see I'm trying, I don't want to lose any of my Taylor Swift fans here. No, but I really do. But you know, she's, she's grown because of that adversity that came from that. And he's saying, let's just move on. Now, sadly, I don't think Taylor's in control of whether or not they move on.
It's probably got more to do with her audience. And, uh, let me tell you, they never forget. And you know what? I don't forget a good deal. When I say And thanks to Mint Mobile, we got just that. With big wireless providers, what you see is never what you get. Somewhere between the store and your first month's bill, the price you thought you were paying magically skyrockets.

Additional taxes, fees and restrictions apply. See Mint Mobile for details. I got to tell you something guys, we, and again, this has nothing to do with Mint Mobile, but nothing to do with my parents internet here in Portsmouth in rural Rhode Island, but I've had a hell of a tech issue today. You might've noticed on my YouTube video, um, my, my audio keeps going in and out.
Now you're not going to hear it because I'm sort of duct taping these leaks together, but I've got to figure out what the problem is. I'm going to go buy some new cords at Marshall's. We're going to. to figure it all out, folks. But I made a YouTube video today discussing the bizarre takes that are coming from the camp known as Laura Owens and the Clayton Eckerd, uh, scandal.
And I hate to say it's a Clayton Eckerd scandal because he's really done nothing to warrant any of this other than accept a very consensual dual blow job. That's, I mean, that's what got him into this mess. Uh, of course, uh, he claims she lied about being pregnant with his unborn twins, twins that never showed up and ultrasounds that never existed.
Well, now we're finding out that her lawyer is, I guess, admitting that one of the ultrasounds she had was her sister's. Now it's very bizarre. It's very bizarre because again, I covered this ad nauseum today, but there's so many layers to this, to the story. So many lies being exposed that I think in some ways he thinks he's doing the right thing.
He thinks he's catching people and contradicting people, but then people are presenting evidence saying, Oh, you're actually contradicting your own client. So he tweeted this. Again, this is Laura Owen's lawyer said she was describing what the fake costume picture was attempting to show quote unquote our son Not what it actually showed a copy of Laura's sister's sonogram that Clayton had this was discussed in other emails to Clayton So he admits that the sonogram that Clayton had was a copy of Laura's sister's sonogram So why?
Would Clayton have a copy of Laura's sister's sonogram if it wasn't something that had been sent to him? Now again, this same sonogram was sent to me claiming to be Laura's. So the connective tissue is this. Her attorney is now officially labeling that sonogram as Laura's sister. When, to be quite honest, no one ever said it was her sister's.
We just kind of knew it was her sister's because her sister was pregnant the year previous, the year prior, and because we knew Laura wasn't actually pregnant. So In essence, he accidentally admits in his own haste, tweeting late at night on Saturday night, having a big party there, Saturday night here, a big tweet party.
He actually accidentally admits that the ultrasound that was used to coerce people into believing she was pregnant was actually her sister's. That's wild stuff. Now this was the same ultrasound that I think was used, um, When she called the FBI on me and so many other things. So again, my apologies to those that say, Oh, Dave, we're so sick of this story.
Which again, I don't think there's many people. I think most people find this fascinating. Uh, but the, these are the details that will continue to emerge. The more he continues to talk. Now, a lot of times lawyers will recommend their clients not talk because it might incriminate themselves. But now it's like, geez, it's your lawyer.
Who's doing all of the dirty work here. Whether or not she approves of this, who knows? I mean, I just think it comes down to the fact that they've shared so many different versions of the story. They can't possibly remember which is the accurate one. So we have a justice for Laura's story. Nephew, really.
That's what it comes down to because he's the one who's had his photos used. My biggest question is this. I I'm not surprised that Laura's parents are protecting her. I'm also not surprised that Laura's sister is protecting her. I am surprised that Laura's sister's husband isn't doing something about this.
And I'm certainly surprised that Laura's sister's. husband's mother isn't publicly denouncing this because like they don't have any loyalty to Laura as far as they know. Imagine this. Imagine being Laura's, okay, hold on a second. Imagine being Laura's sister's husband's mother. Your child, your son has a baby.
Your child's son's wife has a sister. That sister has used the ultrasound to To trap a man to pretend she's pregnant and to send it to journalists. I don't know, guys, I would not want the ultrasound. The first image of my baby being used for such toxicity. But no one's come forward. Certainly no one's come forward to defend them other than the doctor she paid and the lawyer she paid.
But no one has come forward to say enough is enough. And I think at this point, it would be nice to hear from somebody. So with that said, my DMs are open. I'll be back with more content right after this. You know, for the longest time, anyone who operated in country music tried to stay out of politics. I mean, to the extent that you didn't want to, I guess, go against the president.
There was this nationalism we saw with the Dixie chicks, right? They essentially got canceled. I think they're called the chicks. Now the Dixie chicks, whatever their name is, uh, but either way, they're back. But, uh, now we've got Maren Morris. She has basically left country music, uh, because of her political beliefs.
Here's what she had to say on Dak Shepherd's podcast. Tucker Carlson called you a lunatic country music person, and then you made shirts that said that and sold shirts. I want that. I think that's so funny. I want that. Tell me your size. That's incredible. It's kind of like beautiful, though, because, you know, I'm from the South.
I've got a lot of conservative family members. When he called me that, it's sort of like, you know, You can talk shit about your own family, but no one else can. A lot of them stopped watching his show. Yeah. It like broke the Fox News spell. I was like, Okay, so that's a blessing in disguise. They had to come at one of their own personally.
Now I think about that. And if I had a beef with someone, I don't know, in conservative TV, say someone at Fox News came for me. Would that When my family defend me, that, that's, that's actually a good question. Well, maybe, you know, because we have this question of, is family stronger than people's political beliefs?
Cause your political belief really has become your identity in some ways. So I don't know if I have an answer to that. I would hope my family would defend me. I think for the most part, when I have political, you know, sort of differences within my family, because I, I have a very diverse family. Uh, family, uh, dynamic.
I have far very liberal and very conservative family members. And, you know, we, you know, I think in person you could have a disagreement, but it always ends okay. Like you hug it out, but that's the problem with the internet is that you'll just see a family member leave some snarky comment. Like we just, we just treat people the worst way possible.
Um, I don't have any of those discussions with family members online, but I do wonder how many family members might have avoided having conversations with me because they know I'm not going to like. I don't know. Cherry coded. I'm going to tell people how I feel either way within a month or so. We'll get to the end of this.
Uh, we're about a month away from the election, uh, just under, right? Just, or just over a month. And then we can all just go about our day, right? The world will go back to normal. No. Okay. Well, either way, it's essentially a neck and neck race. It's tied. It's 49, Uh, the polls all are essentially tied. What the hell does this mean?
Let's go to Crooked Media and they say they don't look at the public polls because either way, uh, you know, in a poll, who's listening to a poll and who's being truthful to a poll like these, you know, who knows, I certainly don't, but here's a clip on why polls don't matter. Have a listen. I really can't speak to the public polls and most of them are horseshit.
You know, some of them may be close, but generally I'd say any poll that shows Kamala Harris up four to five points in one of these seven states, ignore it, any point that shows Donald Trump up like that, ignore it. This thing's very close. It's a. Margin of error race. Uh, but again, I'd rather be us than him because I think we, uh, have the ability to get to 49 and a half or 50.
Uh, I'm much more confident about that than Donald Trump, but it's going to be close all the way in. That's it folks. All of the polls are within the margin of error. A wild time to be alive, regardless of what side you are fighting for. I always say this, you know, after the election's done and over, just think about ways in which you want to improve your community and try to vote for local officials.
And I mean, I don't know what else to say. It's, it's, it's messy out there. I think we're divided on rhetoric. We're divided. Because of the political leaders. But I truly do believe most of us want the same thing, which is we want our family to be protected. We want our family to be safe and we want our family to flourish and our community to flourish.
I think we can all agree on that. It's just how we get there that people have an issue with. And, uh, you know, I don't know. I, I personally think my opinions are pretty good ones, which is that I want to raise the bottom of what we should expect in living in this great country, that being Using issues, uh, you know, being aware of the different issues and using whatever tools we have to protect each other.
That's what I want. I don't think people should go bankrupt if they get pneumonia, just me. If you fall through the stage while performing, you shouldn't go bankrupt. We should be able to protect each other. All right. Well, I appreciate you guys sticking around. I had so many tech issues today. As soon as I'm done recording, I'm going to go find out what the heck actually happened, but you guys have been fantastic.
